Worldwide TV Shipments Continued Recovery in Q2, per DiScien Report

What They Say

DSCC in its weekly blog release showed data from the DiScien report that it resells on the Global TV market. Q2 saw shipments of 40.0 million, up 3% over Q2 last year although there were significant regional differences. While North America and Western Europe were up on 2019, before the pandemic, China was down 32% on Q2 last year and 29% from Q2 2019 to 7.4 million. The Chinese market is more sensitive to price changes as, apart from TC/CSOT, other Chinese TV brands have to buy panels on the merchant market, so are vulnerable to price swings. The markets in Eastern Europe, Latin America and MEA are still below Q2 2019.

The regional differences have led to different results between the brands. Most Chinese brands have suffered but Samsung and LGE are up on 2019, with LGE up 12% on 2019. Sony was also up 6% on two years ago and TCCL up 19% from the same period. TCL was even up 6% on 2020.
