What They Say
The Korea Herald has added to the rumours that Samsung’s VD division (well, probably the new ‘device experience’ division, now) may buy 2 million WOLED panels and 4 million LCDs from LGD and said that local reports suggest that the firms are in the final phase of negotiating prices.
Nam Dae-jong, an analyst at eBest Investment & Securities, said the production of white OLED flat screen TV sets will come as early as the second half of next year. He pointed out that if negotiations are still going on, it’s a bit late for Samsung to introduce sets in the first half of 2022. He also said that Samsung will see WOLED as a stop-gap until Samsung can get to QNED technology around 2024. (QNED Backgrounder from UBI Research)
What We Think
Nothing really new here, but once you get to titles like the Korea Herald, I would expect someone to be denying the news if it really wasn’t (close to) true. (BR)
