What We Think
I regularly get approached by market research agencies that want us to cover their data with our releases. This release, alone, is on its own enough to justify our policy of not reporting anything from this firm. (if you are new to the market, you may not be aware that 100% of the OLED TV market is, and always will be, AMOLED).
We do support researchers who have given us confidence including (but not limited to) Digitimes Research, DSCC, Gartner, GfK, IDC, Nikkei, NPD, Omdia, Sigmaintell and UBI. There are others where we report them on a selective basis.
Of course, people don’t only buy research to find out what is going on. Sometimes they buy it just to support their point of view, or because policies mandate getting external data. There was a time many years ago when we used to recommend one global analyst if you were looking for investors (as they were always bullish) while recommending another for internal financial planning (as they were always conservative!!
