Westinghouse Returns to Consumer TVs

Westinghouse has shown off a new line of UltraHD LCD TVs at an event in New York City, which range from an affordable 41.5″ set to a mammoth 84.5″.

All of the models (41.5″ WE42UC4200, 49.5″ WD50UC4300, 54.6″ WE55UC4200, 64.5″ WD65NC4190 and 84.5″ WE85NC4210) are smart, with Wi-Fi connectivity. They also feature UltraHD upscaling, HEVC decoding and HDMI ports that can support UltraHD content at 60fps. All of the TVs are Netflix Recommended.

The TVs share many specifications. They have 178° viewing angles and NTSC/ATSC tuners (they are built for the US market). They also feature HDMI (x3), VGA, component, USB and RJ45 ports, as well as two 6W speakers.

Westinghouse is launching the TVs now, starting with the 54.6″ and 84.5″. We have also heard of a 75″ model, for $4,000, but no specifications were available.

Analyst Comment

We haven’t seen any new TVs from Westinghouse for a long time, so this is almost a re-entry to the market. The brand name is licensed by China’s Tongfang Global, which also produces Seiki and Element TVs in the USA, and sold by Westinghouse Electronics. (TA)
