WayRay unveiled its Holograktor concept car

What They Say

WayRay showed a new concept car, the Holograktor that includes a wide angle AR concept. The concept is designed to be driven remotely or conventionally. The car’s glazing uses AR technology that is powered by projectors in the roof of the car that work for the displays for the passengers, while the projectors for the front seats is in the dashboard.

What We Think

I wondered about the idea of remote driving, but for ride ‘sharing’ it makes a lot of sense by centralising drivers which should mean much better economics as the resource can be managed by time rather than time and geography, although, of course, the right cars will still need to be where passengers want to travel from. The idea is already being developed in Berlin.

As it happens, this morning I interviewed the CEO of Ceres which is making the kind of screens that could be used for this concept. More on that in a DD next week. (BR)
