VIZIO, Inc. announced today a partnership with Paramount Pictures to celebrate the July 22nd theatrical release of “Star Trek Beyond.” To kick off the partnership, VIZIO sponsored the world premiere of the film held last night in San Diego, CA before a crowd of 3,500 fans.
Through its partnership with Paramount, VIZIO has created a “Star Trek” “Featured Collection,” giving app users easy access to category titles from the current franchise. Fans can seamlessly cast the Star Trek Beyond trailer to their VIZIO SmartCast display, and can soon enjoy Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness, which have both been re-graded in Dolby Vision.
VIZIO SmartCast home theater displays fully integrate Google Cast™ to give users access to thousands of apps they know and love, like VUDU. The displays are controlled by the VIZIO SmartCast app, which turns iOS and Android mobile device screens into a convenient yet powerful remote control. The VIZIO SmartCast app allows users to create “Collections” of entertainment with their favorite TV shows or movies, or access curated “Featured Collections.”

Directed by Justin Lin and produced by J.J. Abrams, ‘Star Trek Beyond’ celebrates the 50th anniversary of the franchise. In the film, the U.S.S. Enterprise crew explores the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a mysterious new enemy who puts them and everything the Federation stands for to the test.
“Star Trek Beyond,” the highly anticipated next installment in the globally popular “Star Trek” franchise, created by Gene Roddenberry and reintroduced by J.J. Abrams in 2009, returns with director Justin Lin (“The Fast and the Furious” franchise) at the helm of this epic voyage of the U.S.S. Enterprise and her intrepid crew.
