The new Vivitek’s HK2288 projector debuted at CES 2017 is the inaugural product for its new 4K Home Cinema Projector Product Series. A second model, the DH765Z-UST, is a Full HD ultra-short-throw laser projector boasting a 150” display with a 30.7” throw. It is aimed at the education market.
The HK2288 is lamp-powered, not laser phosphor based, with a 4K hour life time (in dynamic eco mode). It uses the DarkChip3 DMD which offers the best black levels resulting in a 50:000:1 contrast ratio, but only 2000 lumens. The panel’s native resolution is 2716 x 1516 so it will use a pixel shifter to obtain 4K resolution. A six segment color wheel helps to deliver vibrant colors for BT.709 coverage. The unit is also HDR10 compatible but latency is not known yet for gamers. Pricing should be below $3,000 with availability this summer.
The DH765Z-UST is Vivitek’s first FullHD ultra short-throw laser projector offering a standard 20K hours of lifetime. It offers 3500 lumens, 12,000:1 contrast, DLP Link and HDMI 1.4 Blu-Ray 3D technology support and an embedded 10W audio speaker. – CC
