Vestel had a new line of video wall displays called the VDW Series. These can be operated in portrait or landscape and are available in 47″ and 55″ sizes – both with 1920 x 1080 resolution. They have a 3.8mm pixel-to-pixel distance and either 500 or 700 cd/m² of brightness.
Both display sizes can be floor- or wall-mounted, using VESA mountings. Two versions are available for both sizes: one capable of 16/7 operation, and one of 24/7 operation.
With BETT so close to ISE, and operating in similar areas, there will inevitably be some crossover. Vestel introduced a new OPS display at the education show (Vestel Bows Out of BETT), which was also on show among the signage monitors. It is part of the CD series, and is capable of running Android, Windows or Linux operating systems.
32″, 40″, 50″ and 65″ displays are available, with an integrated 3D graphics engine, as well as RJ45 and WiFi connectivity. The OPS module adds 8GB of NAND flash memory, an SD slot and an HDD.
Another new model was Vestel’s IP Hotel TV. The unit features USB cloning of settings, for fast set-up, and virtual management. An anti-theft feature can be built into the TV and remote control. The display has smart functionality, and can link to guests’ mobile devices. We heard that it can also show ‘deeper blacks’ and ‘whiter shades’.
Finally, the company was demonstrating a prototype mirror display.

The promotion of “cell only” sales of B2B panels might be an opportunity for Vestel, which has been working on its own backlighting technology for some years. (BR)
