According to reports from Asia, notebook vendors – including Dell and HP – have been inquiring about new chassis materials. The source says that they have been looking into carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic and magnesium-alloy chassis designs. The first of these is a low-cost alternative to traditional metal chassis, but the latter is a high-cost material.
