A hat-tip to Invidis for pointing us to the DoorShow concept – the use of a UST projector to project onto the doors of lifts (or elevators, if you prefer). The idea has been developed by Ambit Media based in Hamburg and there have been a number of installations. The company is working with Schindler and Haushahn who make the lifts. Installers include MediaMarkt, Saturn, and the Hannover Messe as well as the airport in Hamburg. Meridien and Mövenpick have also made installations.

Analyst Comment
We haven’t had the chance to see these installations ‘in the flesh’, but Florian Rotberg of Invidis (which has) said that he was not impressed as high ambient light spoiled the image quality (and his photos back this up), which is a shame because this is a good place to engage people during ‘dead time’. Integrating the images with the operation of the doors could allow some intriguing effects. (BR)
