SNCF has followed through with its plans, first revealed in 2013, to remodel a control room at Paris Saint-Lazare train station, shared by the Transilien Operations Centre and the Traffic Management Operations Centre. The proposal was given the go-ahead the following year and, after conducting a benchmark test, SNCF chose Panasonic as its audiovisual partner for the upgrade.
The installation incorporates 12 professional Panasonic LF-series, edge LED-lit LCD, anti-glare displays. The control room features seven 55″ LF6W screens and four 47″ LF6W screens making up a video wall in the crisis room.
The crisis room also features a standalone 65″ LFB70 interactive display for crisis management, allowing staff to generate situation reports and intervention plans, as well as annotate and share them.
FullHD inputs are handled by a ET-MWP100G 16-slot Multi Window Processor, with a mobile Toughpad FZ-G1 linked via Wi-Fi running the user interface.
The control room at Saint-Lazare runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week. SNCF deals with several incidents each week. Fabrice Romagne, Deputy Manager of the Transilien Operations Centre, said:
“In the event of a crisis, they have to manage the entire stand-by process and coordinate operations in conjunction with various individuals, including the Local Incident Manager who is in charge of managing the situation on site and feeding back information by providing specifics such as a description and camera shots.
This setup has been working perfectly for 2 years, and the Panasonic teams are very much involved and have a sound understanding of our needs”.
