What They Say
The ET News reports that LG Display is planning to boost its 6G production in Paju, Korea. The report said that LG is planning to order ‘more than eight’ Canon exposure machines and that the capacity will be boosted to around 60K substrates per month on the existing P9 (E6) and P10 (E7) lines which are used for smartphones and IT applications, respectively. The report said that a key customer for the new capacity will be Apple, but LG, of course, would not confirm this.
What We Think
I dug into this and found that DSCC reported in its Korea event in December that it expected the E6-3 G6 line to start production of smartphone panels in the first half of 2023, while the IT OLEDs in E6-4 would start in early 2024. DSCC said that the E6-4 line would be in the P10 fab and would make rigid glass OLEDs with TFE encapsulation for IT applications. (BR)
