Unilumin Claims top Spot In China LED Exports

What They Say

Sixteen-nine.net spotted that Unilumin in Brazil had posted some interesting data on exports of LED displays from China. It was originally posted on LinkedIn The data shows that Unilumin was the biggest exporter if the numbers from the brand with its ROE event specialist company and Lamp. As a single brand, Absen comes out on top.

The blog spoke to AMF, which compiled the data, and Paul Morris told it:

“The events sector, which represents more than 50% of manufacturing, is almost at a complete standstill, with no sign of an imminent recovery. This will weigh heavily on the figures for the second half of the year, knowing that in many countries struggling with COVID 19, the economy has not recovered and remains in slow motion.”

Morris said in his LinkedIn article that he assumes that only around 50% of the production of LEDs in China is exported, as there is a huge local market.

Samsung was a long way down in 2020, but this may reflect a change in the balance of shipping from China or from Korea.

What We Think

Early on, the events side of the LED industry was not so dramatically hit because of existing projects and plans, but the impact must be intense by now, after a year without activity in the live entertainment sector. It will take some time to get going again. (BR)
