According to the Advertising Association/Warc Expenditure Report data, the UK, advertising expenditure grew 1.3% in the first quarter of 2017, compared to the same quarter last year. Expenditure reached $6.984 billion and was the fifteenth consecutive quarter of growth. OOH spend fell by 0.6% despite a 27.6% rise in digital advertising.
TV advertising experienced a 6.2% drop but is forecast to grow 2.5% next year. In the UK, advertising growth was driven by the Internet, with 10.1% rise, and mobile, with a 36.2% rise. Cinema advertising grew 27.6% to beat forecasts by 20%, making it the only non-digital medium to grow during the quarter.
The UK advertising expenditure outlook for the whole of 2017 is for a 2% rise and a 2.6% rise in 2018.
