UHD and HDR Apple TV Rumoured to be Launching Next Month

An upgraded version of the Apple TV capable of outputting Ultra HD resolution and HDR will be unveiled alongside the new iPhone and Apple Watch at Apple’s product launch event next month, according to Bloomberg.

We reported a fortnight ago that an iOS developer had located code in an Apple Homepod firmware update that indicated UHD and HDR were on the agenda, so this doesn’t come as much of a surprise.

All will be revealed at Apple’s 2017 launch event, which will take place on September 12th.

Analyst Comment

It’s been well-documented that Apple TV has been struggling to keep up with the competition for some time. It will be interesting to see how Apple’s belated adoption of Ultra HD and HDR affects Apple TV’s sales going forward. (AF)
