BASF spin-off, Trinamix GmbH said at the Snapdragon Summit that it has certified face recognition technology for smartphones that can sit behind an OLED and is included in a Qualcomm reference design using the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip.
trinamiX said that its Face Authentication was certified according to the International Internet Finance Authentication Alliance (IIFAA), FIDO Alliance and Android in 2021 (TrinamiX Gets Certification for Infrared Face Detection Under OLEDs). It is approved for use in mobile payment applications and on Android devices. As well as face recognition, it can detect ‘liveness’ and the technology can be implemented using a ‘standard CMOS sensor; and an NIR light projector which can be ‘easily’ used under the display without a notch or hole.
