Trekstor Uses Old Android in Budget Tablets

Trekstor GmbH has expanded its range of ‘SurfTab Breeze’ Android tablets with three new models: two 9.6″ and one 10.1″.

The SurfTab Breeze 10.1 has a 10.1″ display (1024 x 600) and, unusually for a tablet, a mini-HDMI port. This is in addition to the conventional micro-USB. The tablet is a 7.9mm-thick budget model, with 1GB of RAM and a quad-core processor (1.3GHz Cortex A7) running an old version of Android (4.4). It is available now, for €90.

Another model will be released at the end of June, with a 9.6″ display (1280 x 800 IPS panel). It is described as an ‘all-rounder’, with an Intel Atom x3-C3200RK processor (1.2GHz) running Android 5.1. The tablet has 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, a micro-USB port and support for Miracast. It is WiFi-only, but an identical model, with a SIM card slot and 3G connectivity, will be released at the same time.

The 9.6″ WiFi tablet will cost €80 and the 3G model will cost €100.
