TP Vision, the manufacturer of Philips TVs in Europe, joins Samsung, Panasonic and 20th Century Fox in throwing its support behind HDR10+ over Dolby Vision.
All of the company’s 2018 Ultra HD Smart TVs will feature HDR10+ out of the box, while selected models from the 2017 product range will receive a firmware update.
So far, the majority of manufacturer support has gone to Dolby Vision, including Philips TV in the US, which is run by a separate company. There is currently far more content available in Dolby Vision HDR, though Amazon has stated its intentions to make HDR10+ content available later this year, while the Blu-ray Association announced at this year’s IFA conference that it is discussing including HDR10+ as an optional format in the future.
Philips TVs also run Google’s Android TV operating system, which currently doesn’t support HDR10+.

One thing that was not clear on the Philips statement was whether the support was on all inputs or just OTT content or via the HDMI. We’ll try to check. (BR)
