Taiwan’s three main touch panel manufacturers all performed weakly in April, in the face of growing competition from Chinese producers and reduced pricing.
Young Fast Optoelectronics reported sales of NT$243 million ($7.9 million), down 26.1% month on month and 65.5% year on year. JTouch saw sales drop 2.8% MoM and 42% YoY, which the company said was a result of losing orders from major customers in China. Hanns Touch Solution’s sales were down 65.5% YoY but the company said it expects to improve in the second half of the year thanks to touch panel orders from Samsung for its Galaxy S6 handsets.
