Toshiba Touches UHD

Ahead of ISE 2016, Toshiba has announced an UltraHD, 24/7 digital signage display range called TD-U.

Currently featuring two models, the TD-U series is designed for retail environments requiring simple signage or interactive units. The TD-U852 is an 85″ display, and the TD-U852TS is an 85″ display with six-point IR touch and 2mm Gorilla Glass. This unit also features an OPS slot to hold a mini PC.

Both displays can be mounted in a portrait or landscape orientation. They use VA panels with 178° viewing angles and 500 cd/m² (TD-U852) or 450 cd/m² (TD-U852TS) of brightness, via direct-LED backlights. Response time is 6.5ms and contrast ratio is 3,000:1/2,700:1, respectively. Both have two 10W speakers.

The TD-U852 features DisplayPort (x2), HDMI 1.4b (x4), VGA, RS232, RJ45 and IR extender ports. The TD-U852TS is identical but has a USB port, for touch control, and one less DisplayPort interface.

Toshiba is selling the TD-U displays in the UK now. The non-touch version starts at £6,400 ($9,600) and the touch version starts at £8,000 ($12,000). Prices are ex VAT.
