Japan’s Nikkei newspaper claims that Toray Industries has developed a phosphor sheet that can raise WLED brightness by 10%, without an increase in input power.
The sheet is intended for use with WLEDs formed using blue LEDs and either yellow phosphors or red and green phosphors. It is made by dispersing phosphor particles in a binder, made mainly of silicon resin.
Currently the sheet has not been linked with LED backlights, but with general lighting applications, as well as vehicle headlights.
