Top-Five Notebook Firms Saw Shipments Improve by 11%

The top-five global notebook vendors saw their combined shipments drop by 24% month-on-month but grow 11% year-on-year in July 2018, as inventory preparations for the back-to-school rush were complete in May and June, according to Digitimes Research.

Dell saw shipments fall by 16% month-on-month, while HP’s shipments went down by almost 30% month-on-month but grew 5% year-on-year. Lenovo, suffering from the effects of the trade war between the US and China, saw its shipments drop by over 30% month-on-month.

The top-three ODMs also saw their combined shipments decline by almost 20%. However, market leader Compal Electronics saw a 10% year-on-year shipment increase in July.
