What They Say
Xiaomi launched three 12 series smartphones. The displays are:
- Xiaomi 12 – 6.28″ 1080 x 2400 AMOLED – 120Hz, , 1,100 cd/m² $749
- Xiaomi 12 Pro – 6.7″ 1440 x 3200 AMOLED, LTPO, 10-120Hz, 1.500 cd/m² $999
- Xiaomi 12X – 6.28″ FHD+ AMOLED – 120Hz, HDR10+, 1,100 cd/m² $649
The range is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus and they all support Dolby Vision and HDR10+.
They all support 5G and they all have 50MP rear cameras, with the Pro having 50MP telephoto and ultrawide cameras as well. The 12 has a 13 MP ultrawide and a 5 MP telemacro, the same as the 12X. The 12 and 12 Pro have support for 4K and 8K video capture.
GSMArena was impressed with the 12 but found a number of drawbacks.
We also spotted that DisplayMate had looked at the phones here and found the series got an A+ result and the reviewer found that the Pro had ‘close to’ the lowest screen reflectance level that we have ever measured for a smartphone.
What We Think
Unsurprisingly, Ray Soneira of DisplayMate found performance matched the best other displays it had tested, which is not much of a surprise as the panels probably came from the same place! (BR)
