What They Say
Austrian company C Seed has launched three new luxury TVs in its N1 range. Unlike the last product from the company (The most exclusive MicroLED screen in the world), this one doesn’t disappear back into the ground, but the unit does fold into five sections, then rolls down out of the way under motor control (see the short video). There are three sizes, 103″, 137″ and 165″ diagonal. Each has UltraHD resolution and HDR and the displays are said to have ‘pristine’ blacks and low glare. There is an integrated speaker system.
Pricing starts at $190,000, which is less than half of the cost of the one that sunk below the ground!
What We Think
Samsung had some very impressive ideas for this kind of LED reconfiguration system, but hasn’t done it in production. Thinking of Germany, I remembered a reconfigurable display at Munich airport, but when I dug it out a video it was described as LCD. It wasn’t of course, it was a 12.5mm pitch LED from 3M with 900 cd/m² of output and made by 3M GTG. It was installed in 2012. (BR)
