Chili, the Italian VoD platform, added over 100,000 new customers last month, and expects to reach one million subscribers during May. If this is achieved, Chili, would have achieved its target four months earlier than originally forecast.
Chili does not charge any monthly subscription or activation fees but does charge on a pay-per-view basis for movies and TV series. Its OTT platform offers first view movies, after their cinema release, as well as a catalogue of movie and TV series, with users being able to stream or download content on smart TVs, Blu-ray devices, PCs, tablets and smartphones.
Chili was launched in Italy in June 2012, and has since expanded to other markets, including the UK, Poland, Germany and Austria.
The company is still controlled by its founders, Antares Private Equity, InvestinChili, Negentropy Capital Partners, Tony Miranz and Ferruccio Ferrara, and has Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Viacom and Warner Bros as shareholders.
