Thalmic Raises $120 Million for Gesture Input

Thalmic Labs has secured $120 million in Series B funding from Intel Capital, the Amazon Alexa Fund and others to develop its technology which is a wristband sensor that tracks movement in the muscles of the wrist and processes this data along with motion sensors, to calculate what the user’s hand and fingers are doing.

Analyst Comment

The company’s first product, the Myo, is said to have disappointed those trying it, but, clearly, Thalmic has been able to convince potential investors that it can improve the performance. (BR)
