Technicolor has file patent infringement suits against Samsung Electronics in Germany (Düsseldorf and Mannheim) and France (Paris) claiming that Samsung is in breach of ten of its patents relating to video compression. The suits are asking for the blocking of offending products which are understood to include mobile phones and TVs. French sources have said that Technicolor has made deals over the patents with Asus, HP, TCL and Toshiba, among others.
Technicolor has 30,000 patents and patent applications.
Analyst Comment
The company said that it has conducted negotiations with Samsung but had not been able to reach an agreement. At press time, we hadn’t seen a response from Samsung. (BR)
