TCL Multimedia said that LCD TV sales volume declined 10.2% year on year in September, to 1,645,485, though the proportion of smart TVs increased by 93.3% YoY. In TCL’s home market of China, sales volume was down 9.3% from a year earlier to 973,707 sets. The sales volume of smart TVs was 623,188, a 91.8% increase and comprising 64% of the total LCD TV sales volume.
In the overseas markets, TCL’s LCD TV sales volume decreased by 9.3% to 671,778, of which sales in the emerging markets fell by 19.6% to 430,365 units. Sales in the North American markets and TCL’s strategic OEM business were described as ‘satisfactory’, with YoY increases of 54.8% and 31.4% respectively.
