TCL has unveiled its new UltraHD HDR smart TV for the UK market, the DP648. Available in screen sizes of 43”, 50”, 55” and 65”, the DP648 series supports HDR10 and HLG, features built-in Wi-Fi and a number of post-processing features, including Smart HDR for standard dynamic range content; UHD Micro Dimming, which analyses video content and adjusts bright and dark areas independently; and Brightness Plus, which is said to improve contrast.
The new models offer a range of online applications, VoD services, catch-up options and more. Freeview Play is pre-installed, providing programming from BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All 4, Demand 5 and UKTV Play alongside 70 TV channels and 15 HD channels.
Content can be streamed from the internet or a home network via apps such as YouTube, Netflix, Rakuten and more. The UI also allows users to view network content and personal content alongside conventional digital broadcasts. The DP648 range is available now, priced from £399 ($507) for the 43″ model, up to £899 ($1,143) for 65″.

Analyst Comment
TCL claims a ‘Picture Performance Index’ of 1500. We covered this concept in our IFA report last year (TCL Uses IFA for Global Launch). Philips has used the phrase in the past and TCL referred to Samsung using it, but we don’t remember that. (BR)
