TCL CSOT’s T9 Line Prepares for MicroLED Production

Earlier this year, TCL CSOT’s 8.6G oxide semiconductor production line, known as the T9 Project, began mass production and customer shipments. With a 35-billion-yuan ($4.9 billion) investment, the factory in Guangzhou started first with products like a 14.0″ FHD laptop display and a 23.8″ FHD monitor. At an investor briefing last week, TCL CSOT announced that the second phase of the T9 project will start installing equipment in the latter half of this year, with full production expected next year.

T9 uses 4mask Oxide technology, supporting LCD, MicroLED, and IJP OLED panels. The facility should be able to handle about 180,000 glass substrates per month, measuring 2250mm x 2600mm, by the end of 2025. The first phase was capable of delivering about 100,000 units per month.

Touting the T9 as having the world’s first oxide semiconductor production line for MicroLED, TCL CSOT is expecting to be competitive across a range of sizes anad applications for MicroLED from automotive to TVs.
