More than 20% of European TV households will pay for VoD packages (subscription VoD, or SVoD) by 2020. Digital TV Research forecasts that the overall figure will be 59.4 million (20.7%), up from 18 million (6.4%) at the end of 2014. Households in Eastern Europe will be much less likely to take SVoD packages: only 6.8% will subscribe, compared to 29.7% in Western Europe. Revenues from online TV and SVoD will climb from $1.6 billion this year to $5.5 billion in 2020.
