Subscription Video Spending Will Rise by 78% by 2020

Consumer spending on home video in Western Europe will increase year by year, so that by 2020 it will be €8.7 billion ($9.7 billion), according to research from IHS Markit. The three top markets are still the UK, Germany and France, which currently provide 75% of spending on transactional home entertainment video and 52% of subscription video spending. The online transactional market is predicted to grow by 23% to €1.2 billion ($1.34 billion) by 2020, while subscription spending will increase by 78% to reach €5.5 billion ($6.15 billion). The market for physical discs is still going down and is expected to fall by 47% during the next four years to €1.96 billion ($2.2 billion).
