Studio Display TearDown

What They Say

iFixit tore down the new Apple Studio Display and decided that inside it’s very like an iMac. The site identifies that the panel itself is exactly the same as the one used in the 5K iMac. The overall monitor is thicker than the iMac by around 50% because of the inclusion of the power supply, rather than using an external unit. The site pointed out that there is ‘a split power supply board with complicated cutouts for the thicker components—Apple’s power engineering team clearly put a lot of effort into this’.

What We Think

I might not like Apple’s prices and I was disappointed that there was no attempt to ‘push the envelope’ on visual performance with this unit, but it’s good to see Apple back with more displays and working on the engineering. (BR)
