Ströer has installed seven new LED displays as part of a plan to eventually roll out a total of 20 displays. The local authorities conducted traffic reports for the areas where the displays were installed to see if there was a negative impact on traffic safety, a common concern in some countries. The surveys showed no negative impact on safety. In contrast to conventional billboards, brightness can be controlled to make the conditions.
The authorities want to use the displays for their own information as well as generating revenue through the partnership with Ströer which extends to 2023. Ströer has offered to put moss on the backs of the displays to help counter pollution.
