Among the rush of quarterly market data on Q1, Strategy Analytics (SA) released its data on the tablet market, globally. A surprise was that Apple actually grew from Q4 2021 to Q1 2022 with shipments of 15.8 million and 39% market share. Still it was down 6% year on year from Q1 2021 which was strong because of Covid.
Demand was said to be reasonably strong, but supply chain and logistical challenges dampened shipments. SA said that “Samsung, Amazon, and Microsoft pulled off great quarters”. It pointed out that Apple and Samsung control 59% of the market.
What We Think
I must say that these days I don’t think of Microsoft when I think of tablets, but the firm has been edging up to 3%. (BR)
