Stratacache Acquires Retail Insight Company Walkbase

Intelligent digital signage firm Stratacache has announced it has acquired Finland-based creator of retail analysis tools, Walkbase.

This latest acquisition is all part of Stratacache’s ongoing growth of its customer experience strategy—the company defines its business as assisting retailers to create targeted advertising based on shopper insights. Named 2015’s Cool Vendor by Gartner Group, Walkbase uses current in-store hardware including network access points, digital signs, sensors and beacons, to track customers’ behaviour as they shop.

Data is captured anonymously via advanced mobile tracking, messaging and artificial intelligence, before being analysed and fed back, to deliver useful information and insights to the retailer, such as customer movement patterns, which products are being viewed and which ones are selling.

Walkbase will continue to operate its business model as normal under Stratacache, with API access to its key product portfolio. Stratacache will be giving its first demonstration of Walkbase technology at the National Retail Federation trade show in New York, which runs from January 14th to 16th.
