It’s not so long ago we reported that an open beta of Valve’s new Steam Link app was available for owners of some Samsung UHD TVs.
Today, Samsung announced that the free app is officially available in 55 countries including the US and the UK, for 2016 and 2017 models of the company’s line of Smart TVs.
2017 UHD models also get the added benefit of Ultra HD streaming, whereas 2016 models can support resolutions up to 1080p.
HDR is unavailable on the app at this time and Samsung have made no mention of whether they plan to add it a later date.
The Steam Link app can stream games from your PC directly to your TV. All you’ll need to get started is a Steam-compatible controller, such as Valve’s own Steam Controller, or an Xbox 360 or Xbox One controller.
The app will work over Wi-Fi but Samsung recommends a wired connection for optimal streaming performance.
