Sony Corp. announced its FY17 Q3 sales of ¥2397.5 bn ($20.7 bn) and net profit of ¥19.6 bn ($169 mn), resulting in a net profit margin of 0.8%. The quarterly sales were lower by 7.1% as compared to FY16 Q3, while the net profit was lower by 83.7% as compared to the corresponding figure in FY16.
The sluggish sales were mainly due to the impact of foreign exchange rates. On a constant currency basis, sales were essentially flat year-on-year, due to significant increases in Game & Network Services segment and Semiconductor segment sales, substantially offset by a significant decrease in the Mobile Communications segment sales.
