Sony Prepares for Selfies

Sony’s Xperia C4 is its next-generation ‘selfie phone’. A follow-on to the C3, the C4 uses a 5MP front camera with a 25mm wide-angle lens.

An Exmor RTM for mobile sensor, soft LED flash and HDR feature is built-in to enhance photographs, even those taken in low light. Steadyshot, another feature, is Sony’s own optical image stabilisation. These functions are present in both the front and rear (13MP) cameras.

Extending battery life is a key feature for Sony, so the C4 has three different power-saving modes. The 2,600mAh battery will provide eight hours of video-watching time as standard, and can be lengthened with Extended Standby, Extended Usage and Ultra Stamina modes.

The C4 has a 5.5″ display (1920 x 1080 IPS panel) and runs Android 5.0 on a 1.7GHz octa-core Mediatek processor (64-bit). It has 2GB of RAM, 16 GB of storage and can accept micro-SD cards up to 128GB. Single and dual-sim (Xperia C4 Dual) versions are available.

A price has not been announced yet. The phone will go on sale at the start of June.
