Sony has finally brought Dolby Vision support to its high-end OLED and LCD televisions in the US.
However, users have complained that, while streaming apps like Netflix are working as expected, sources connected via HDMI, including Blu-ray players and Apple TV 4K, are still failing to decode Dolby Vision content.
The issue comes after the firmware update suffered a spate of delays. A European release for the update still hasn’t been confirmed.

Several publications have reached out to Sony. The company is yet to make an official comment, though one particular user on Sony’s own community forum said that they have been informed by a customer service representative that Dolby Vision support is restricted to streaming apps only. The thread makes for sorry reading in general, so if this turns out to be true, Sony will have a lot of explaining to do. (AF)
