Indian media claims that Sony is considering establishing a manufacturing plant in the country. The Economic Times of India quotes Sony’s Indian MD, Kenichiro Hibi. Hibi apparently said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s stress on ‘zero defect’ manufacturing matches the Japanese philosophy. “Sony is looking at India for long-term growth. While no decision has been made yet, the potential products for manufacturing in India could be both flat-panel televisions and smartphones”, he said. “We have been thinking for the last few months about starting manufacturing in India, but the evaluation has now been accelerated with the policies of the new government”.
