Sony Brightens Meeting- and Classrooms

Sony’s C-Series has been expanded with three new projectors, scheduled to be launched in January. The VPL-CW276, VPL-CW256 and VPL-CX236 are 3LCD units for education and business use.

Each of the new models has low fan noise and supports horizontal (+/-3 deg (CW models) or +/-4 deg (CX model)) and vertical (+/-5 deg ) lens shift.

As these projectors are not due to be launched until January, specifications have not been finalised. Sony has shared some details, however. Each unit will feature two HDMI ports and either a 1.66-2.41:1 (CX236) or 1.32-1.91:1 (CW256 and CW276) throw ratio. Brightness is 4,100, 4,500 or 5,100 lumens, respectively. The CX236 features three brightness levels, the lowest of which extends lamp life by up to 5,000 hours.

In addition to the new models, Sony has announced the availability of the VPL-CH355 and VPL-CH375 projectors. These were introduced at Infocomm (Display Monitor Vol 21 No 24). They will be available this month for $2,400 and $3,000, respectively.
