Rumours Fly Before MWC

MWC is widely expected to serve as the launch platform for a number of tier one manufacturers’ flagship products this year, given their absence from the CES tradeshow.

Rumours about Sony‘s Xperia Z4 have been circulating for several months, and – naturally – many are contradictory. We can probably trust claims that the phone will use a quantum dot LCD display (Sony’s Triluminos technology), but otherwise expectations are up in the air. Some sources say that the Z4 will have a 5.2″ display with 1920 x 1080 resolution; others claim 2048 x 1536 or even 5.5″ with 2560 x 1440. Internally, we can expect 4G connectivity, a Snapdragon 810 processor, as much as 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage and 20.7MP/4.8MP rear/front cameras. The battery is thought to feature Qi wireless charging.

The Galaxy S6 will almost certainly retain the AMOLED technology that defines Samsung‘s flagship smartphones (Samsung’s display business is almost out of LCD in this size range, now – Man. Ed.). Resolution is likely to be at least 2560 x 1440, considering that recent Galaxy devices like the Note 4 and S5 LTE-A (South Korea). Samsung has previously stated a desire to put UltraHD displays on smartphones this year, but we don’t expect to see this resolution so early in 2015.

For size, most sources agree that the S6 will feature a display larger than 5″ – between 5.2″ and 5.5″. There is also a chance that the screen will be flexible. The processor is likely to be a 64-bit octa-core device.
