SoLuM Claims #3 Spot for ESLs

Solum

What They Say

The Elec reports that SoLuM, a Korean vendor with production facilities in China and Vietnam, had won orders for electronic shelf labels (ESLs) to the value of 550 billion won ($497 million) in Q4 2020, after signing three year deals with a number of distributors. The company told the paper that it is the third largest ESL maker globally after SES Imagotag (now part of BOE) and Pricer of Sweden. SoLuM claims to be the top vendor in the US and in Korea.

The firm said that strong demand was because bricks and mortar retailers are having to respond to online competition with faster changing pricing.

What We Think

Somehow, SoLuM as a vendor had by-passed us, although this may change now that it has developed more channels in Europe. You can get more background in a video here. The firm claims that its Newton labels have a 10 year battery life as well as being IP67 water and dustproof. (BR)
