Solas OLED files patent infringement lawsuit over Nintendo Switch OLED

What They Say

Solas OLED put out a press release saying that it has filed a legal claim in the US over four claimed patent infringements in the OLEDs used in the Nintendo Switch. The company said that in March, it won a case against Samsung (Solas OLED Wins Patent Infringement Lawsuit Against Samsung) and was awarded $80 million. The Irish Times reported at the end of October that an appeal by Samsung had failed, although the report suggested that Samsung still had recourse to further appeals.

The firm said:

“Despite the Court ruling, and despite SDC knowing of Solas’ patents for years now, SDC’s OLED displays continue to embody Solas’ patented technology without an appropriate license to the patents that cover the OLED technology.”

What We Think

As usual, I’m not getting into the weeds of this patent dispute. The firm has settled disputes with LG. (BR)
