The Elec reported data from Omdia on the smartphone display market which put the market for small displays at $13.41 billion in Q2 this year, up 15% on last year. Samsung Display’s (SDC) sales were up 50% to $4.34 billion as the output of rigid OLEDs for Chinese handset makers surged. Omdia forecast a strong second half of the year for SDC. BOE had sales just under half of SDC’s at $2.13 billion, just up 1% from 2020 as LCD sales dipped. Tianma was third at $1.44 billion, up 16% but also with declining LCD sales. LG Display was 18% up to $1.28 billion, up 18% and Innolux was in line with BOE at 1% growth to $680 million.
