Gamefly cloud gaming services will shut down at the end of August, following EA’s acquisition of the technology. The Gamefly service is currently available on LG, Philips and Samsung smart TVs and Amazon Fire TV boxes.
The streaming service has been active since Gamefly merged with existing game-streaming service provider PlayCast Media in 2015. The company says the decision to end the service was taken before the EA acquisition.
EA is using Gamefly technology to power its newly launched Origin Access Premier subscription service, which provides access to new releases five days before launch.
