Skyworth Moves to Google TV and adds miniLED

What They Say

Skyworth was in the Westgate at CES to highlight its OLED TVs and said that in the first three quarters of 2021, its sales were up 10.8% in China and by 35% in China. It also claimed the top spot in OLED market share in China in the first half of 2021 (although the OLED TV market in China is relatively small – editor).

The firm highlighted its 65″ W82 UltraHD 120Hz transformable TV (Behind the Scenes Developing the World’s First Mass-produced Transformable OLED TV) and the S82, which is the same size and operates at up to 120 Hz and is claimed to have a ?E of 0.86 – and claimed to be the most accurate OLED TV in terms of colour.

In the US, the firm will focus on Google TVs from the summer of 2022. As well as OLED, the firm will have 65″ and 75″ 120Hz miniLED QLED TVs and sets with 120Hz up to 85″. It will have a full range down to 32″ and 40″ entry level LCDs.

What We Think

Skyworth is still promoting its module making for OLEDs (which allowed the development of the transformable TV) and which allowed the development of a ‘wallpaper set’, the W81 which was launched a couple of years ago at CES. Apart from technology news sites, I can’t see much sign of the sets in the market. (BR)
