Sky Deutschland will join Sky UK in launching UltraHD services this year. The broadcaster will launch a channel in the autumn, starting with live coverage of football games. A new receiver will be required to watch these services, which will be distributed through satellite and cable. Sky Italia is also understood to be building a portfolio of UHD material in preparation for a launch, says Inside Satellite.
