Sigmaintell Research|TV Panel Price Trends in Jun.2022 (The early June edition)

What They Say

Sigmaintell of China published its early June TV panel price data which confirmed that all sizes of TV panels continue to decline sharply. Smaller sizes fell by between 2.5% and 7% while the mainstream 55″ fell by 4.2% and 64″ by 7% between May and June.

Prices are expected to decline even further.

What We Think

I find it hard to get my head around the idea of a 32″ panel at less than $1 per diagonal inch. Of course, these prices are for open cells, but I remember when a breakthrough for LCDs was going to be at $100 per inch and some 20 years ago we reported that panels were going to hit $10 per inch (Display Monitor Vol 9 #41)

At present, it’s not completely clear when things are going to stabilise, although they have to at some point! There is no point in continuing to slash prices if demand is not responding. Three months or so ago, our friends at DSCC saw 32″ stabilising at around $36 and 65″ at $164 by now. When Can LCD TV Panel Prices Stop Declining? (BR)
